FAQ's

  1. What positions are available and how do I apply?
    West Michigan Community Mental Health System’s complete list of open positions is available on this website under the link titled “Current Job Openings”. To apply review the links about the application process, setting up your applicant profile, completing the application, completing the waiver and release, and submitting your cover letter and resume.
  2. How many positions may I apply to at the same time?
    You may apply for as many of our open positions as you wish as long as you possess the necessary qualifications. You will need to apply for each position individually. Once you’ve set up your applicant profile, completed the application, and completed the waiver and release, you’ll just need to upload your cover letter and resume for each position of interest to you.
  3. May I just send my resume to apply for a position?
    No. West Michigan Community Mental Health System’s application process defines a bona fide applicant as an individual who has completed the Application for Employment, completed the Waiver and Release for Background Check, and submitted a cover letter and resume. If you submit only the resume, you will not be a bona fide applicant and will not be eligible for consideration for employment.
  4. Do I have to include a cover letter?
    Yes. This is a requirement of all bona fide applicants. It is also a good way to provide additional information about you as an applicant.
  5. May I just complete the Application to apply?
    No. Completing all four steps in the Application process is required in order to be considered a bona fide applicant at West Michigan Community Mental Health System.
  6. Do I have to complete the Waiver and Release for Background Checks?
    Yes. This is a requirement of all bona fide applicants. Due to the type of work performed by our organization, thorough background checks of all applicants are performed.
  7. Do I have to have an email address to apply?
    Yes. Email is the primary method of communication with applicants especially early in the application process. If you do not already have an email address, it is easy to obtain one and free on many internet sites including google mail (gmail), yahoo, and hotmail.
  8. May I apply from any computer?
    Yes. You may apply from your personal computer, your school computer, a computer at MichiganWorks!, a computer at your local library or any other location that provides for public computer usage.
  9. May I send my application materials by FAX or the US Mail instead of applying online?
    No. West Michigan Community Mental Health System only accepts applications through this website.
  10. Will the personal information I provide be confidential and protected? I’m nervous about sharing it on a website.
    Your personal information will be kept confidential and secure on our encrypted website. Please review the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy for additional information.
  11. How long will it be until I hear from someone about my application?
    We know how important communication is with our applicants. We value the time and commitment you have shown in sharing information about yourself with us so that we can consider your candidacy for a position on our team. Our process can sometimes be a lengthy one depending on the position, but typically you will hear from us within two to six weeks following notification that your application materials have been successfully received. We promise to let you know if you have been selected to move forward in the selection process or if you have not.
  12. If I don’t get the first job that I apply for, may I apply again?
    Yes. We welcome applicants to apply for any position for which they are qualified.
  13. What if some of my personal information changed since I last applied?
    You have the option of updating your Applicant Profile, Application for Employment and Waiver and Release for Background Check forms each time you Log on to our website. Just follow the links to update any relevant information as often as needed. You will resend your cover letter and resume each time you apply for a position.
  14. What if I have other questions not answered in this FAQ section?
